Switching to a new web host can be a very easy process if done right. By following these easy steps , you should be able to do a smooth transfer to us.

1. The first thing you need to do is order the LaneHost web hosting plan that best suits your needs. Note: Do not cancel your old web hosting provider yet, as you will need to be able to login into your old hosting account still.
   
   
2. Now you should have 2 web hosting accounts, one from your old web hosting provider and one from LaneHost. You will now transfer your web site from your old web host to LaneHost. To do this, open your favorite FTP program and login into your old FTP account and download all the contents to your hard drive.
   
   
3. With all the files of your web site on your hard drive. Now connect to your new LaneHost FTP account, the login details were sent to you when you ordered your plan in step 1. Then just copy over your web site to your new account, don't forget all files and folders you want viewable online must be put into your public_html folder.
   
   
4. With the completed site transfer of your site to your new hosting account, you will now need to change the Domain Name Servers or DNS to point to LaneHost. Your new DNS server addresses were provided to you in the welcome email upon receipt of your order.
   
   With the DNS information, please go to where you purchased your domain name, if the domain was purchased through a web host, they may have to change the DNS for you. Just contact their support department and tell them you need to change your DNS for your domain name and provide them with your DNS servers listed above.
   
   
5. After you finished changing your DNS, please wait 48 hours for your domain name to point to LaneHost. During this time, your domain name is prorogating around the world and will be going in and out between your old web hosting provider and LaneHost.
   
   
6. At step 6, you have waited 48 hours and your site is working without access problems with LaneHost. You may now contact your old web hosting provider and cancel your account with them.
